Going Offline And Living In The Moment

In today’s digital age, it is pretty darn easy to find yourself glued to your phone - I mean, our entire lives are practically on our phone. Visual memories in our photo albums, fun music to jam to every morning, a huge network of friends that we can connect with through Facebook...you get the gist of things. As a lifestyle and travel blogger, you probably assume that my eyes are never off my phone. However, my reality involves doing just the opposite. Instead, I strive to be off of my phone for as long as possible. If I’m on my phone, it’s because my career requires the frequent use of social media. Otherwise, I’m all about enjoying the moment. So today, I came up with a few tips to help you guys stay offline as well so that you can enjoy life to the fullest!

Tip 1:
Get out of bed and out the door as soon as you hear that alarm!
As soon as you hear that alarm, be sure to get up right away or else that snooze button will become more irresistible by the second. I find that maintaining a cozy and presentable sleep environment is very important to starting my morning off on the right foot - so make your bed, fluff up your pillows, and do whatever you need to do before tackling the day’s errands ahead. All of these morning tasks can be completed within a timely manner if you don’t slow yourself down by checking Facebook notifications or responding back to texts, which you can do much later in the day.

Tip 2:
Love your pets, love your family.
We become so occupied by our phones that sometimes we forget about the things we love most - family. And this includes your pets! If you see a family member before heading off to work or school, put that phone down and strike a conversation with the people around you. If your pet greets you in the morning, be sure to return the kind-hearted gesture! Just remember that your phone will always be by your side 24/7, but your family will not always be.

Tip 3:
Socialize more offline and less online.
When you are meeting up with friends, your attention should be 100% focused on these people. With the exception of using Instastories or Snapchat once in a while, my phone stays in my purse for the duration of the hangout. Instead, I save my unanswered texts and notifications for time when I’m alone, and not when I’m surrounded by good company.

Tip 4:
Take care of your evening to-dos efficiently by avoid browsing through your phone.
It’s a true statement when they say that the blue light emitted from mobile devices can interrupt one’s sleep pattern. Thus, I use this excuse to wind down before heading to bed - sheet masks, a chill magazine read, and more. For the past couple of months, I’ve been using this EuroKing Support Fine Pillow every single night. Luxurious and soft, this huge pillow guarantees the comfort that I’ve always been looking for before bedtime, as it supports my back, neck, and head during my nightly magazine reads. As soon as I begin to feel sleepy, I put my magazine away, set my alarm, and hit the sack, ready for a brand new day ahead.

With all of these tips, I hope that we can all enjoy life to the fullest
